The Dunes in Swaths is a semi-abstract seascape with layers of thick paint applied with a soft palette knife.  In the foreground are "swathes" of dune grasses in pale pink, magenta, bright green, black, purple, and yellow just hinting to the motion of the grasses.  On the horizon of the ocean is a dark landmass reaching out to the sea.   The painting is signed and dated on the back.  This style of painting is excellent for beach cottage, French country, transitional, or shabby chic decor style.
